The IDEA Standard, Version 1.0.1, is published

The Council for Enterprise Advancement has published the IDEA Standard (Iterative Development for Enterprise Advancement).

The Standard is classified in its own text as a developmental standard and a meta-framework. It states what must be true for an enterprise to remain viable and develop effectively, and it provides the conceptual architecture within which existing frameworks, methodologies and sector practices may be interpreted, aligned or improved. It does not prescribe organizational forms, operational processes or sector-specific methods, and it applies to enterprises of any scale, sector or configuration.

The text runs to about 42,000 words in eight parts, with annexes and a bibliography. Its relation to ISO 37000:2021, ISO/IEC 38507 and the Viable System Model is stated in Annexes B and E.

The Standard was released as Version 1.0.0 and replaced the same day by Version 1.0.1, an editorial iteration as defined in the versioning model in Part VIII. Version 1.0.1 was the current text on the date of this notice.

Update, October 12, 2026: Version 1.0.2 has been published and is now the current text. It is available from the same address.

The Council stewards the Standard. Its author, Jason Farley, is its first implementer. Practitioners are encouraged to send observations, questions and proposed improvements through the Council's contact form; they inform future releases.

The Standard is available free of charge at enterprisestandards.org/standard. Readers request it with a name and email address and download the PDF immediately.
